The Golffoxwood Academy

Start with an Assessment
Every golfer begins somewhere. We start your journey with a straightforward evaluation of your current skills, goals, and comfort level on the course. For adults, we look at swing patterns, posture, and how you approach the game. For juniors, we focus on coordination, attention span, and what makes the game fun for them.
This assessment is not a test. It is a conversation. You hit a few balls, chip a few, and we talk about what you want to achieve. From there, we build a plan that fits your schedule and your ambitions. No two players are the same, and we do not pretend otherwise.
Build from the Green Back
The fastest way to lower your scores and enjoy the game is to start at the hole and work backward. Our academy puts short game first: putting, chipping, and pitching. These shots account for more than half your strokes, and they are easier to learn than a full swing.
We teach you how to read greens, control distance, and get up and down from anywhere. Once you are confident with your short game, we move to iron play, then to the driver. This progression builds real skill without overwhelming you. You will see progress quickly, and that keeps you coming back.
A Practice Plan that Works
Random practice leads to slow progress. We give you a structured routine that targets your weakest areas. Each session includes:
- Warm‑up drills for putting and chipping
- Focus time on one short‑game shot type
- Full‑swing work with clear goals (not just hitting balls)
- On‑course practice – playing a few holes with your coach
We recommend two to three short sessions per week for most beginners. Consistency matters more than length. A focused twenty minutes beats an hour of mindless hitting. As you improve, we adjust the plan to keep you challenged.
Group Clinics or Private Lessons?
Both have their place. Group clinics offer energy, camaraderie, and the chance to learn from watching others. You get more reps in a social setting, and drills often feel less pressured. They are ideal for building basics and for juniors who learn best together.
Private lessons give you one‑on‑one feedback. We can diagnose your exact swing flaw, adjust your grip, or work on a mental block. If you have a specific goal – a tournament, a trip, or simply hitting the ball solidly – private lessons are the most efficient path.
Most players benefit from a mix. Start with a few private lessons to establish fundamentals, then join group clinics for reinforcement and practice. We help you decide the right balance based on your progress and preference.
Realistic Expectations for Your Game
Golf takes time. With regular practice, adults typically see consistent contact and a reliable short game within a few months. Juniors often progress faster because they learn movement patterns more quickly, but patience is key for all ages.
Expect ups and downs. Some rounds will feel effortless; others will test your resolve. That is normal. We focus on the process, not just the score. You will learn to manage the course, make smart decisions, and enjoy the walk regardless of the number on the card.
Our goal is to make you a golfer for life. That means helping you understand that improvement is gradual, setbacks are part of it, and the real reward is the game itself.
