Tournament Formats & Start Options

We offer several popular formats that keep the pace brisk and the competition friendly. The most common is the scramble: each player tees off, the team selects the best drive, then all players hit from that spot, repeating until the ball is holed. Scrambles suit groups of any skill level and encourage teamwork.

Best ball (or better ball) works well for more experienced golfers. Each golfer plays their own ball throughout, and only the lowest score on each hole counts toward the team total. This format rewards individual consistency while still fostering team spirit.

For start times, you can choose between shotgun and tee-time starts. A shotgun start sends all groups to different tees at the same time, allowing everyone to finish around the same moment—ideal for awards and meals afterward. Tee-time starts stagger groups from the first tee, which works well for smaller fields or events where staggered arrival times are preferred. We can help you decide which option best fits your group size and schedule.

Planning Your Corporate or Charity Day

A well-organised tournament begins with clear goals. For a corporate outing, you might focus on client entertainment or team building. Charity events often emphasise fundraising and community engagement. We can adapt the course setup, pace of play, and on-course activities to match your objectives.

Consider adding on-course contests to increase enjoyment: closest to the pin, longest drive, or putting challenges. These can be placed at strategic holes and managed by your volunteers or our staff. We also offer scoreboard display and live leaderboards for competitive events.

For charity days, we can help you structure the day to maximise donor involvement. Options include raffles, silent auctions, or a “mulligan package” that lets players buy extra shots—all proceeds go directly to your cause. We ask that you provide your own prizes and auction items; we’ll handle the course logistics.

Catering is a key part of the experience. We can arrange breakfast, lunch, or dinner service to suit your schedule and budget. Many groups opt for a post-round awards ceremony with a buffet or barbecue. We’ll coordinate the timing so the transition from golf to dining is seamless.

What We Need to Know in Advance

To ensure your tournament runs smoothly, we ask for the following details at least two weeks before the event:

  • Number of players (guaranteed minimum and expected maximum)
  • Preferred format (scramble, best ball, or another option)
  • Start type (shotgun or tee-time) and desired start window
  • Contest hole locations (closest to the pin, longest drive, etc.)
  • Catering requirements (number of meals, dietary restrictions, service time)
  • Any special requests (custom signage, sponsorship banners, music, or cart restrictions)

We also need a single point of contact for the day-of event so communication is clear. On the morning of the tournament, we will have a check-in table with scorecards, rules sheets, and any materials you provide. Our staff will assign starting holes, explain local rules, and ensure everyone is ready to play on time.

A little planning goes a long way. The more information you share upfront, the better we can prepare the course, the food, and the support team. We look forward to making your tournament a memorable and well-run event.
