Managing the Team

Each course manager oversees a dedicated group of staff members who help keep the property running smoothly. This includes starters, marshals, pro shop attendants, and outside services personnel. We work with our team to schedule shifts, provide training, and maintain a consistent standard of service.

  • Starters and marshals manage the flow of golfers onto the first tee and patrol the course to maintain an enjoyable round
  • Pro shop staff handle check‑in, merchandise sales, and general information
  • Outside services staff tend to carts, bag drop, and practice areas

We hold regular meetings to review procedures, address concerns, and ensure that every member of the team understands their role in creating a welcoming atmosphere. Staffing levels are adjusted based on season, weather, and tournament bookings so that you always receive appropriate attention.

Scheduling and Pace of Play

The tee sheet is one of the most visible parts of daily operations. Our course managers set tee intervals that give you enough space to play without rushing, while still allowing the course to accommodate a full day of tee times. We monitor pace of play throughout the day using GPS data from our cart fleet and direct communication with starters and marshals.

If a group falls behind, we send a marshal to offer a friendly reminder and help the group regain position. We also adjust the tee sheet for special events, corporate outings, and league play so that regular visitors can still find open times. Keeping the pace consistent is a priority – we aim for a round that is challenging but still moves at a comfortable rhythm.

Collaborating on Course Conditions

Course conditions depend on close coordination between the manager and the superintendent. We meet daily to discuss weather forecasts, turf needs, and the timing of maintenance tasks such as top‑dressing, aeration, and fertiliser applications. The manager communicates the superintendent’s plans to the pro shop and marshal team so that golfers know what to expect.

When conditions demand temporary changes – moving tee markers, altering hole placements, or closing a hole for maintenance – we work together to minimise disruption. We also schedule maintenance around busy periods, typically performing major work in the early morning or during slower days. This partnership ensures that the course remains both playable and well‑maintained throughout the season.

Elevating Your Visit

Food and beverage service is another area where the course manager takes an active role. We oversee the snack bar, beverage cart, and any on‑course food offerings, making sure that items are stocked, staff are trained, and service is timely. Whether you stop for a quick drink or a full meal, we aim to provide options that suit your round.

Beyond food, the guest experience includes everything from the condition of the parking lot and washrooms to the friendliness of the greeting at the bag drop. We walk the property regularly, speak with golfers, and follow up on comments left in our feedback forms. Small adjustments – adding sun umbrellas at the starter hut, improving wayfinding signage, or adjusting music volume in the clubhouse – are all part of the manager’s effort to make your visit more enjoyable.
